OptaSense is a state of the art warning technology developed by Qinetiq. We are proudly representing Qintetiq through his marketing partner Optilan in Asia.

OptaSense® provides an early warning of unauthorized third party interference activity (e.g. excavation and ground works) close to a cable - at great distances from the interrogation station. An entire cable network can become operable from one location.

OptaSense® turn ordinary optical fiber cable into highly sensitive senor over long distances.

The solution is based on Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) -DAS solution converts standard fibre optic cable into an array of virtual microphones spaced between 1m and 15m along a fibre up to 50km in length.

From one location OptaSense® can monitor 100km of asset creating 10,000 sensors instantaneously without the need to conduct any infield operations.

OptaSense® DAS solution has being deployed around the world in places like Nigeria and many other places which includes third Syrian section of Arab Gas Pipeline, designing, supplying,  installing and commissioning Telecommunication system of RAS GAS off plot project in Qatar, are some of  critical national assets protected by OptaSense® DAS solution.

Application where OptaSense®  can deliver include:

1) Oil and Gas 

In Oil and Gas OptaSense®  added capability to pipeline protection and leak detection ,locate pigs inline to within 10m in real  time, gauge the speed of pigs in real time, use the suite of analysis tools for pipeline condition data are some of the features.

2) Border and Perimeter:

OptaSense®   is a very efficient product which can be use for monitoring activities along extended lengths of border / perimeter over complex and remote terrain. It can also provide end users with Real-time detection, classification and location of intrusions. The system is highly sensitive, with classification software to reduce nuisance alarm rates.We can also integrated OptaSense®   with existing security infrastructure e.g: CCTV, Video Live Streaming

3) Transport and telecoms

OptaSense® can detect any ground based activity within the vicinity of the buried cable. It has the ability to detect human interference with the cable , detect ground works / mechanical digging, locate fiber cuts. For transport   OptaSense®   has develop successful monitoring and warning system for tacks and roads.

4) Defence

In addition o providing situational awareness around forward deployed military bases, OptaSense®   also deliver its expertise in other and provide the security forces with a strong solution to encounter any threat on national interest
